We’ve compiled some of the more notable partnerships that have taken place in the United States for the month of July 2019.
- ALTEN Calsoft Labs x Clinlogix
ALTEN Calsoft Labs an Enterprise Digital Transformation solutions and Engineering R&D services company have launched “BioPharma Ledger”, a Blockchain clinical trial platform. Clinlogix, a global clinical research organization partnered with ALTEN and will be the first to implement the platform in real clinical trials.
- Amazon x Rite Aid
Amazon partnered with pharmacy chain Rite Aid to add more than 1500 package pickup locations by the end of the year. The service is known as ‘Counter’ allows customers to pick up their orders from participating Rite Aid stores within 14 days of delivery. Amazon is also looking for other businesses to participate in the service.
- Amazon x Realogy
Amazon and brokerage firm Realogy partnered to offer a new product, Turnkey as a means of breaking into the real estate industry. The new service matches individuals looking for homes to one of the selected real estate agents. Amazon will provide extra benefits after a home has been bought.
- Amazon x Middle-earth Enterprises x Leyou Technologies
A free-to-play MMO (Massively-Multiplayer Online) game set in a timeline prior to the events depicted in the Lord of the Rings trilogy will be jointly developed by Amazon Game Studios, Middle-Earth Enterprises, and Hong Kong-based interactive developer and publisher Leyou Technologies. The partnership has Amazon Game Studios and Leyou jointly developing the game, with Amazon marketing and publishing the title globally with the exception of China, where Leyou will take responsibility for.
- Nvidia x Volvo
Nvidia and Volvo are joining forces to compete with Tesla in the autonomous-truck market. The partnership will utilize Nvidia’s AI network for training, simulation, and in-vehicle computing to get the autonomous-trucks ready for public roads.
- Microsoft x OpenAI
Microsoft is investing $1 billion USD into AI research company OpenAI to support its development of a supercomputing AI technology for its cloud. OpenAI will also use Microsoft Azure cloud exclusively for developing and running its software, and both companies will work together on building new AI systems.
- Tuskegee University x Auburn University
Tuskegee University’s Brimmer College of Business and Information Science partnered Auburn University’s RFID Lab to give supply chain students an opportunity to manage real-world data of some companies in the retail and apparel industry. Auburn University’s RFID Lab debuted in 2015 and have since worked to research, develop and implement RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) and other technologies in various industries.
- Mattel Inc. x Paramount Pictures
Mattel Inc. has been named global toy partner for Paramount Pictures‘ Top Gun franchise. The toymaker is granted rights to produce an assortment of toys related to the Top Gun films. The toys will be globally available ahead of the film’s US premiere.
- T-Mobile x Taco Bell
For 3 days, T-Mobile and Taco Bell will jointly open T-MoBell stores in three cities – New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago – starting on July 23. The stall will provide free food and other giveaways from 2 p.m.–5 p.m.
- AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group) x CGR Cinemas
A partnership between entertainment company AEG and French multiplex company CGR Cinemas seeks to bring the first-ever ICE THEATER featuring ICE IMMERSIVE© technology to the United States. It will make its debut in Fall at the Regal L.A. LIVE: A Barco Innovation Center in downtown Los Angeles. The ICE (“Immersive Cinema Experience”) THEATER concept combines state-of-the-art design and excellence in sound and image technologies with the revolutionary ICE IMMERSIVE sensorial experience.
- Giant Eagle x Grabango
Tech company Grabango partnered with retailer Giant Eagle to experiment with the company’s checkout-free technology. A Giant Eagle retail location will be the first large grocery retailer to utilize Grabango’s checkout-free platform in the United States. The new technology will eliminate lines at checkout and promises a stress-free and satisfying shopping experience.
- Aramark x InStride
Managed services company Aramark will partner with education services company InStride to provide full tuition coverage for eligible hourly associates in the USA. Those selected will be able to pursue their degrees from a selection of renowned universities. The application process will begin on October 2019 with enrollment for the spring 2020 semester.
- Subway® Restaurants x Halo Top®
Subway has partnered with Halo Top Creamery to test the new hand-spun Halo Top milkshake. Running for a limited time from July 22 to September 4, the new beverage will be available in almost 1000 locations in the following markets: Colorado Springs, Colorado; Hartford, Connecticut; Longview and Tyler, Texas; Salt Lake City, Utah; Toledo, Ohio; and West Palm Beach, Florida. Customers can choose from 3 flavors: vanilla bean, chocolate, and strawberry.
- IBM x DBmaestro
DBmaestro, a global DevOps leader in database automation partnered with IBM to offer the former’s database release automation capabilities to IBM customers. The platform provides users with superior database editing and management tools that result in increased productivity while reducing risk.
- Fullstack Academy x University of North Florida
The University of North Florida is partnering with coding Bootcamp Fullstack Academy to offer skills training for jobs in programming and the tech field. Beginning in October, the part-time coding program will be available through the university’s Division of Continuing Education and will be available to non-university students.
- Wix x FaZe
American esports and entertainment organization FaZe Clan has taken on Israeli cloud-based web development platform Wix as their website development and design partner for FaZe’s Fortnite team. The FaZe Clan Fortnite website provides information and updates related to the team for fans.
- Xtreme Performance Lab x With University of Cincinnati
Xtreme Performance Lab (XPL), an athletics improvement company, announced a partnership with the University of Cincinnati (UC) to provide neuro-physical training to student-athletes. A combination of neuro and biofeedback monitoring along with mental performance assessments and proprietary ZONE Training technology work to develop and improve athletes performance.
- Ford x Volkswagen
Iconic automakers Ford and Volkswagen entered into a partnership to research and develop electric and autonomous vehicles. The partnership will give both companies a competitive edge and will save each company hundred and millions of dollars in future developments. Volkswagen will supply Ford with components for the development of a future vehicle platform that will begin production at a Ford plant in 2023.
- TRUNO x My Cloud Grocer
TRUNO, an integrated retail technology solutions company partnered with grocery eCommerce software company My Cloud Grocer to create opportunities for brick-and-mortar grocers to compete in the digital space. The partnership makes use of TRUNO’s TruCommerce platform to connect My Cloud Grocer to point-of-sale (POS) software and back-office solutions, streamlining the flow of data and making the digital grocery experience less complicated.
- Microsoft x AT&T
Microsoft and AT&T announced a partnership to pair AT&T’s network with Microsoft’s Azure Cloud to leverage 5G benefits. AT&T hopes to move most of its work to the cloud by 2024. Microsoft would also gain access to AT&T’s 5G network and both companies will collaborate on advancing 5G’s use. Both companies hope to see developments in several areas including AR, VR, video streaming, and autonomous vehicles.
- Riot Games x Caffeine
Riot Games, the studio most known for the development of the League of Legends game is taking Caffeine, a streaming platform as the newest broadcasting partner for North American League of Legends Championship Series. However, the partnership isn’t exclusive as the games will still be broadcast on Twitch.
- Samsung x Visual Labs
As part of efforts to improve public safety, the Kit Carson County Sheriff’s Office in Burlington, Colorado looks to a new solution collaboratively created by Samsung and Visual Labs. Police officers of the department will be upgrading their duty vests with Samsung Galaxy S9 phones fitted with FirstNet Certified™ Visual Labs software. In addition to serving as a bodycam, the phones will also function as a personal locator and communications tool.
- Razer x Visa
Iconic gaming brand Razer formed a partnership with Visa to transform payments in the gaming industry. Both companies, through their financial divisions, will work to develop a virtual Visa prepaid solution to be embedded in the Razer Pay e-wallet, that will allow Razer users to make payments wherever Visa is accepted.
- Southwest Airlines x Nintendo
In celebration of a new partnership between Southwest Airlines and Nintendo, the airlines are hosting a “Summer of Surprises.” The event begins on Southwest flight 2246 from Dallas to San Diego where the passengers were treated to a Nintendo-themed gaming flight and received a Nintendo Switch console and a free copy of Mario Maker 2. Other events will be held in the coming days.
- LibertyX x Desert ATM
LibertyX, America’s largest network of bitcoin ATMs, cashiers, and kiosks partnered with independent ATM operator Desert ATM to add 90 Bitcoin enabled ATM machines in its network. Some of the locations include AMPM, ARCO & Chevron gas stations and Family Dollar retail stores. LibertyX network spans thousands of locations across 43 states and allows consumers to buy bitcoin from a cashier, an ATM using their debit card or a kiosk. Purchase, however, is limited to $3,000 at a time.
- U.S. Bank x BMW
U.S. Bank entered into a co-brand agreement with BMW Financial Services NA, LLC to issue credit cards that will deliver enhanced digital experiences and greater value to BMW customers. The new program will give customers the opportunity to earn points that can be redeemed for BMW services.
- Watch Communications x Microsoft
Internet service provider Watch Communications and Microsoft announced a partnership as part of Microsoft’s Airband Initiative to bring internet to the rural regions of Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois. Watch Communications will deploy a variety of broadband connectivity technologies to bring coverage to 50 counties in Indiana, 22 counties in Illinois, and most counties in Ohio.
The company plans to leverage TV white spaces (e.g., unused TV frequencies) in lower population density or terrain-challenged areas to achieve coverage.
- Carhartt x Chevrolet
Chevrolet, one of the world’s largest car brands and Carhartt, America’s leading workwear brand entered into a strategic partnership where Carhartt will become the Official Workwear of Chevy Trucks and Chevy Trucks will be the Official Partner of Carhartt.
- Cyvent x Deep Learning
Advisory firm Cyvent partnered with cybersecurity company Deep Instinct to assist the firm in its expansion around the country. Companies working with CyVent can also make use of Deep Instinct’s deep learning predictive capabilities to ensure multi-layer protection across all endpoints, servers, mobile devices, and operating systems. Deep Instinct is the world’s first and only deep learning cybersecurity company.
- Harvard Pilgrim Health Care x Landmark Health
Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare and Landmark Health have entered into a partnership to offer new healthcare services to chronically ill Medicare Advantage members with complex health and social needs. While Landmark’s health program brings healthcare to the patient via house visits, Harvard Pilgrim seeks to enhance its whole person, complex care coordination services for members with special health care needs. The program is voluntary and offered at no cost to eligible Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Medicare Advantage members who have multiple chronic conditions, living in the following Massachusetts counties: Middlesex, Worcester, Suffolk, Norfolk, Essex, Bristol, and Plymouth
- Redfin x Opendoor
Discount real-estate brokerage Redfin will partner with Opendoor, a home-buying service to allow homeowners to get an instant offer when they want to sell with Redfin. Although Redfin already has its own instant offer platform, known as RedfinNow, both companies have said that their partnership was intended to provide customers with more choices.
- Hard Rock International x Yext
Hard Rock International partnered with Yext, a company that provides solutions for businesses to answer any questions by consumers. Yext is working to provide brand verified, up-to-date information on online listings and restaurants for Hard Rock Cafe locations around the world.
- Kentik and NeoNova
Network insight and analytics company, Kentik entered into a partnership with NeoNova, a subsidiary of the National Rural Telecoms Cooperative (NRTC) that provides technical support for broadband providers in rural America. In the partnership agreement, Kentik will allow Neonova to utilize its systems to provide better assistance to customers and respond to cyber-attacks.
- Virgil x National Restaurant Association
Career navigation and recruiting platform Virgil partnered with the National Restaurant Association to launch ServSuccess, a career resource platform that assists individuals working in the restaurant scene build their careers by providing educational resources, materials and programs.
