Fortnite Assemble! Snapping your fingers has never been this cool. The dynamic partnership between EPIC and MARVEL is happening again— Fortnite Battle Royale, an immensely popular game in which 100 players are dropped onto an island to fight until one remains. Last year, players were treated to an in-game event that was released alongside Infinity War. The event gave players the opportunity to play as the film’s titular villain Thanos by finding his Infinity Gauntlet and taking advantage of its powers to eliminate other players.
The birth of Fortnite x Avengers…
The first-ever partnership was formed through a mutual admiration for each other’s work. Avengers: Infinity War co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo are huge fans of Fortnite. They told Entertainment Weekly that in between editing Infinity War, they would take breaks and hop right into Fortnite for a few games. They thought it would be cool if there is some kind of Avengers-Fortnite mashup, so they started stalking Director Donald Mustard. It turned out that Mustard is also a massive fan of Russo’s work and the rest is history.
The first partnership did so well, a second partnership is bound to follow suit with Avengers: Endgame.
These bad boys are at it again…
On April 22, Fortnite’s developer company, Epic Games teased a new in-game event that would bring Fortnite and Marvel together again for another collaboration that will be released alongside the Avengers: Endgame movie. The latest event brings in a new game mode vastly different from the previous year and gives players the chance to wield some of the iconic weapons used by members of the Avengers in the film. The new event divides players into 2 teams, Heroes and Chitauri. The goal of the Heroes is to defend the Infinity Stones that are scattered across the map while the Chitauri attempts to collect them. As in the previous event, players will be given the chance to play as Thanos again by being the first Chitauri to find an Infinity Stone.
This collaboration brought together for the second time two of the most iconic pop culture brands. Fortnite is considered to be among the most popular video games today while the highly anticipated new Avengers movie represents the grand finale that ties up all the previous movies and may very well be one of the best superhero movies to date.
In a mere five days, Endgame destroyed all box office records and grossed $1.2 billion faster than any other movie in history. The movie holds the record for the largest worldwide opening and biggest North American opening to date. This means that Fortnite’s partnership with Endgame will sell tons of skin.
If you haven’t yet watch Endgame, get to it and see if you can spot the Fortnite Easter Egg in the movie!! As for Fortnite/Avengers fans, get your exclusive Avenger skins and emote before the promotion ends. This legendary partnership will end soon.
What a fantastic partnership! Metapair rates this partnership 9 out of 10! Good job EPIC GAMES and MARVEL
