We’ve compiled some of the more notable partnerships that have taken place in the United States for the month of May 2019
- Citi Private Bank x Sotheby
Art: Beyond Borders is a program that seeks to promote understanding and progress across cultures. Sponsored by a collaboration between Citi Private Bank and Sotheby, each episode will highlight different art masterpieces from all over the world.
- Microsoft x Sony
Rival companies Microsoft and Sony announced a surprising announcement that they would be partnering to develop future gaming and cloud data solutions. It seems that both companies are looking to capitalize on each other’s strengths to compete against other gaming threats and secure dominance in the cloud gaming service.
- Redweek x Affirm
Redweek, the largest online community for timeshare rentals partnered with finance company Affirm to offer a new payment scheme for vacationing customers. The partnership makes paying for vacations easier and flexible through monthly installments with terms of 6, 12 or 18 months.
- AMD x Cray
The US Department of Energy awarded a $600 million contract to both AMD and Cray to collaborate and design a new supercomputer. The new computer, named Frontier is expected to be completed in 2021 and will be the fastest supercomputer in the world.
- Hard Rock International x Mercury Phoenix
Hard Rock International has announced that the hotel chain will be continuing its partnership with the Mercury Phoenix Trust. The charity to combat HIV/AIDS founded by Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor alongside manager Jim Beach in honor of the now deceased Freddie Mercury. Hard Rock Cafe locations around the United States will host various Queen-themed activities from July to August.
- NASA x Astrobotic, Intuitive Machines, Orbit Beyond
In a bid to return to the Moon, the National Atmospheric and Space Administration (NASA) started the Artemis Program to put astronauts on the lunar surface by 2024. To make this a reality, NASA selected 3 companies – Astrobotic, Intuitive Machines, and Orbit Beyond that would help develop payload technology to assist in the mission.
- Mattel x Warner Brothers
Mattel has extended its global licensing agreement with Warner Bros Consumer Products to continue to manufacture toys for the superhero brand DC. This renewed agreement will support current and future DC projects.

- Lincoln Financial Group x Philadelphia Eagles
A stadium naming rights partnership for the Lincoln Financial Field between the Lincoln Financial Group and the Philadelphia Eagles have been extended to 2032. This partnership began in 2002 and is among the longest naming rights partnership in the National Football League (NFL).
- Johnny Rockets x Warner Bros x Legendary
A cross-promotional partnership between Johnny Rockets, Legendary Pictures’ movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Warner Bro. Pictures was announced to promote the fast food chain’s new avocado menu.
- Axon x Chicago Police Department
The Chicago Police Department and Axon are partnering to create a new training program as part of its crisis intervention training curriculum. The new training program is an immersive VR experience that teaches police officers to better handle situations that involve people suffering from mental health issues.
- Super League Gaming x NetLevel
eSports organizer Super League Gaming entered a partnership with internet provider NetLevel. The partnership enables Super League to promote esports at a broader level by increasing the number of venues, especially movie theatres to make it more accessible and convenient for amateur players to participate and fans to watch.
- Google x Informatica
Google has entered a partnership with software development company Informatica. The partnership aims to address challenges in data management and analytics.
- Bain & Company x Hive
Bain & Company partnered with Hive, a full stack AI company to jointly develop and launch a new business venture, the Bain Media Lab. The new business offers custom research and analysis of television advertising and sponsorship with its newly developed AI platform.
- Babel Street x Dark Owl
The world’s data-to-knowledge company, Babel Street has renewed its partnership with DarkOwl, a darknet database company through the year 2020. The partnership offers clients access to DarkOwl’s data to support a range of missions including breach detection, cyber attribution, and illicit marketplace identification.
- Curaleaf x University of Connecticut
Cannabis operator Curaleaf has agreed to sponsor hemp (a plant species grown for specialized uses) research in a partnership with the University of Connecticut. Researchers from the University’s Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture will receive the funding to look into ways to improve the production process of hemp. The results of the research are believed to have a significant impact on the medical cannabis industry.
- Epos Now x Hopt
Point-of-sale systems provider Epos Now has partnered with mobile app Hopt. The app allows customers to order and pay for food directly from their phones. The partnership with Epos Now will enhance customer experience and improve the efficiency of participating restaurants.
- THOR Industries x Kampgrounds of America (KOA)
Recreational vehicle (RV) manufacturer THOR Industries and campground franchise Kampgrounds of America (KOA) are partnering for a multi-year endeavor. Both companies will spearhead a campaign to foster environmental responsibility. As travelers in the SUmmer enjoy the outdoors, THOR and KOA will encourage them to pick up garbage along the way. Participants who do are also advised to share their effort on social media to promote awareness of the environment and motivate change.
- Epic Games x The Abyss
Epic Games, the company famous for developing the popular video game Fortnite is partnering with The Abyss, a blockchain game distribution platform. Though much of the details surrounding the partnership are unclear, it seems that Epic Games stand to get certain privileges if games are purchases off The Abyss’ platform. This partnership also serves to attract other gaming studios and titles to The Abyss’s platform.
- Hard Rock Arkansas x Bo Jackson Elite Sports and Sports Facility Advisory (BJESM)
Hard Rock Arkansas will partner with the Bo Jackson Elite Sports and Sports Facility Advisory (BJESM) to answer a community need. The partnership will lead to the planning and development of a brand new sports complex in Pope County. The development of such a complex will contribute to the investment and promotion of sports among youth.
- Harlem Globetrotters x Carnival Cruise
Carnival Cruise Line and the Harlem Globetrotters, an exhibition basketball team announced a partnership to bring more entertainment to more than 150 shows across the country. The two entities will collaborate on giveaways, joint marketing efforts and support of charities.
- Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) x Warehouse Shoe Sale (WSS)
The Los Angeles Football Club and sports retailer Warehouse Shoe Sale announced a multi-year partnership that aims to make a meaningful impact on the Los Angeles community. Both organizations will jointly host community events in the Los Angeles Metro Area that seeks to unite people through the game.
- Chicago Cubs & Wrigley Field x Dynergy
Dynergy entered into a multi-year partnership with Major League Baseball team, the Chicago Cubs to be the official energy provider for Wrigley Field. As part of the deal, Dynergy will get strong ballpark sponsorship and heavy marketing presence.
- USA Cricket x American Cricket Enterprises
USA Cricket entered a long term partnership with American Cricket Enterprises as part of its mission to bring cricket to the United States. The partnership is the most ambitious venture taken in American cricket history with over $1 billion invested for the creation of a new league, infrastructure, broadcast distribution, leadership, and strategy.
- McCormick Place x Scanalytics Enterprises
Scanalytics, a company that designs floor sensors and predictive analysis technology entered into a contract with McCormick Place, Chicago’s convention center. The partnership will see Scanalytics install floor sensors throughout the venue to analyze visitor movement to plan energy savings.
- Lambert x HarperCollins x Zonderkidz
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, public relations firm Lambert & Co partnered with publisher HarperCollins in a campaign to donate 5000 books from Zonderkidz to public schools in Detroit. The donation aims to improve the literacy rate of students and to foster an interest in reading to educate and inspire a generation of readers.
- Ashford University x Novetta
Ashford University has partnered with Novetta, an advanced analytics company on a program that would allow eligible Novetta employees to pursue higher education at the university debt-free. Candidates who are eligible for the Full Tuition Grant get all costs including tuition, course materials, technology fees, prior learning assessment fees, and graduation fees covered.
- University of Connecticut x Trilogy Services
The University of Connecticut School of Engineering in conjunction with workforce-development firm Trilogy Education launched a computer coding “boot camp” program to address the need for a tech-savvy workforce. The part-time program is open to any individual from all backgrounds and experience, employed or not. Trilogy Education has similar programs with 46 other universities around the country.
- Babson College x Toyota Mobility Foundation
- Inovio Pharmaceuticals Inc x Plumbline Life Sciences
As part of efforts to combat the highly contagious and dangerous African Swine Fever Virus, Inovio and South Korean based Plumbline have agreed to collaborate in research and development of a vaccine.
